MATT PULLED HIS HARLEY IN front of Taylor’s place at quarter to six. He started to climb off the bike to go get her, but she must have heard the noise. Before he could get to his feet, she was leaning over her porch railing, laughing and squealing. He hadn’t asked how she felt about motorcycles because he wanted to see how she reacted to the surprise, but it didn’t look, at least on the outside, like she was scared to ride with him.

He was going to count it as a fair trade. He’d go to the game, tailgate in the parking lot with her cousins and meet her family, and she’d ride on the back of his bike. If it meant she had to wrap her arms around him to hold on, well, that was simply a price he’d have to pay. And with just her female cousins there, he could probably avoid awkward questions about his intentions. The women might actually believe he was content to just be Taylor’s friend. The men in her family would have seen it for the bullshit it was.

“Ready?” he called, but she was already on her way down.

He glanced down to make sure she had on closed-toe shoes and then handed her his spare helmet, reaching under her chin to snug the strap tighter because he wanted her to be safe. Not because he wanted to feel the soft brush of her skin against his fingertips.

“Absolutely,” she said, swinging her leg over the bike and climbing on behind him.

Her thighs squeezed against his, and he felt the soft press of her breasts against his back. God, he loved motorcycles. As they made their way across town to the stadium, he felt her relax behind him. She slid her fingers into his belt loops and held onto his waist, and her hips started to move in sync with his. It was sexy as hell and exactly the kind of thing friends didn’t do.

He slowed down to pull into the parking lot, and Taylor leaned forward, tapping his shoulder to get him to turn at the end of the row. When he was about halfway down, moving carefully past the fans milling around before the start of the game, she tapped him again and motioned to a huge SUV with its hatch up. As he got closer, he felt her body stiffen behind him. It only took him a moment to understand why.

The lawyer strolled along the side of the car, holding a short glass instead of the sensible and traditional red plastic cup. He said something to the group of women standing at the back of the car, making them laugh, and then he looked toward Taylor and the bike, and Matt watched his entire demeanor shift. He motioned with his head and three big guys stepped up beside him like some kind of Southern gentleman posse.

Perfect. Just perfect.

Taylor’s fingers tightened on his waist, and he wondered if she was happy to see the men or not.
